Self-pay options using debit or credit cards will be processed through a secure client portal. I accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and client payments using their FSA or HSA cards. You are welcome to request a “superbill” to submit to your insurance company which will include a detailed receipt that an insurance provider would need to process an out-of-network reimbursement claim.
Why self-pay?
- Clinical Benefits
Self-pay arrangements often allow for more flexible treatment without being constrained by insurance requirements for specific diagnostic codes, treatment modalities, or session frequencies. This means therapy can be truly tailored to individual needs rather than fitting into predetermined insurance categories.
- Privacy and Confidentiality
When using insurance, diagnoses and treatment details become part of permanent medical records that insurance companies retain. Self-pay eliminates this paper trail, offering complete privacy. This is particularly valuable for individuals in sensitive careers, those seeking couples counseling, or anyone who prefers their mental health journey remain entirely confidential.
- Access and Flexibility
Self-pay removes barriers like prior authorization delays, limited provider networks, and waiting for insurance approval. Clients can start treatment immediately and choose from a broader range of qualified therapists who may not accept insurance. It also eliminates the risk of coverage being denied or discontinued mid-treatment.
